We ‘look beyond’ the apprenticeship stereotypes
National Apprenticeship Week 2020 has launched today (3rd February) and Car Benefit Solutions has created a video which aims to celebrate the diversity of our apprentices and their job roles.
The theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2020 is “Look Beyond”, encouraging everyone to look beyond outdated stereotypes surrounding apprenticeships and to recognise that apprentices ‘Make Impact, Not Tea’.
We deliberately chose apprentices in senior roles to take part in the video, to demonstrate that you don’t have to be in a junior job role or just starting out in your career to be an apprentice.
Apprenticeships are available in a wide-range of subjects, and can be studied at many different levels from intermediate to degree. 8 of CBS’ people are currently working towards a nationally-recognised qualification through an apprenticeship, in diverse roles including IT Technician, Business Analyst and Operations Development Manager.
Craig Walsh is Customer Experience Manager at CBS and is currently studying a level 5 Department Manager course. He initially started an apprenticeship because he’d been in a managerial position for quite a while and wanted a formal qualification. However, he believes that the course has taught him more than he expected, going on to say;
“Once you’re in a job for a certain amount of time, you tend to lose touch with new innovations and this [apprenticeship] gives me the opportunity to learn new techniques and new styles.”
