The Role

The role is within the Tier 2 function of our development support team.

The primary responsibilities will involve working with the Tier 1 support team and will subsequently analyse issues, identify and develop solutions, as well as, document and review code that forms the majority of the CBS bespoke systems both internally and client facing.

There is also the opportunity to work on small projects that form part of our regular deployment process.

The Challenge Ahead

Responsible for multiple aspects of the business including Pricing, IT & Development, Commercial Operations, Financial Transactions, Management Accounting and Reporting.

The development team are responsible for the CBS Bespoke Internal Application & Client Websites integrated with third party products where applicable.

The team goals are to be the leaders of change within the business, embedding wherever possible the systems and processes within our client’s workflow further enhancing the interaction with CBS.

The Responsibilities

  • Liaise with both the Tier 1 support team and the end user (where appropriate/required) to ensure timely and effective resolutions to support tickets, questions and issues.
  • Liaise and work alongside the DB, BI and project development teams to ensure any solutions are implemented effectively and with minimal risk and impact.
  • Monitor and manage our Tier 2 support board, evaluate, assess and prioritise tickets and provide answers or resolutions and bug fixes where required.
  • Review current systems to gain not only a technical understanding but also how this system is used and integrated within the business.
  • Continually update your technical knowledge and skills by reading manuals, using video tutorials and hands-on training.
  • Document software and systems functionality.
  • Understand the CBS database infrastructure.
  • Have a good knowledge of the CBS network and server infrastructure as well as deploy software components to the various servers and environments.
  • Present ideas for system improvements and challenge existing technologies and methodologies where appropriate and identify any potential cost or time saving.
  • Work closely with our Business Analysts to understand and analyse user requirements and identify any potential issues, impacts, risks etc.
  • Produce technical specifications where appropriate.
  • Write well designed, efficient code using the CBS coding standards.
  • Work within and contribute effectively to the Agile framework/methodology implemented and used by CBS.
  • Support and resolve issues/defects for both the bespoke internal windows application and client facing websites.
  • Integrate distinct software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Comply with project plans, business goals and industry standards.

The Person Profile

  • Degree in relevant subject matter
  • Previous commercial experience
